Lake & Elliot 2 Ton S183 Description The S183 is a 2 ton triple screw jack. Cast with 2 TONS on one side. On the other is S183 Cat No 43604 1/1945. It is 6 7/8" closed and has a 13.75" lift. Extended height is 20 1/8". It was also used as a military jack, bearing the vertical arrow as shown in the final photo. Applicable Vehicles: Possibly Humber Limousines in the 1940s. Description The S186 is a post jack. The example shown is missing its foot. The screw is 21". The body is cast LAKE & ELLIOT LTD BRAINTREE on one side; BRAKES ON BEFORE LIFTING on both sides; and RAISE LOWER 68E - 17080 S186. Intelligence fed to me by George Radion (also provider of the photos) notes that 17080 is a common stock number used by Ford for car jacks and that this example may have been supplied to the 1936 Ford Model 68 V8. Description The S411 is a 15 cwt twin screw jack. Cast with LAKE & ELLIOT MIDAS S411. 15CWT. It measures 5.25" closed and has a 5 7/8" screw extension. Extended height is 11 1/8". Three variants have been identified by NewMoody (courtesy last photo). They have various castings on the other side as follows: 1. LAKE & ELLIOT BRAINTREE 2. LAKE & ELLIOT ENGLAND 3. LAKE & ELLIOT JACKS AND EQUIPMENT LTD Applicable Vehicles: Strong evidence suggests it was supplied with UK-built Isetta bubble cas. Confirmation required. Please contact me. Description The S412 is a 35 cwt twin screw jack. It is cast down the barrel on one side LAKE & ELLIOT and along the base MADE IN ENGLAND. On the other side it is cast 7 IN S412. 35CWT. It measures 7" closed and has a 9.25 screw extension. Extended height is 16 1/8". Variations to the S412 have a MIDAS casting plus PAT No 184723 NewMoody has discovered that the S412 is identical to the P780 except for the winder hole. The S412 is square section whereas the P780 takes an engine crank or suitable shaped bar. Last 3 photos (ignore the S780 in the photos, should be P780). Lake & Elliot Midas S414 - Version 2 Description This version of the S414 above is slightly shorter, measuring 4 5/8" in height to the top of the casting (1/8" shorter). The jack above is shown on the left in the other photos. It can also be seen that the jack in this entry has a more rectangular base, measuring 3" x 4.75". Markings: to the left of the winder at the rim, PAT No 235497, below, vertically L&E to the right of the winder at the rim 15 CWT, below, vertically, S 414. Lake & Elliot Midas Junior S421 Description The Midas Junior 7 (S421) is a 7.5 cwt single screw jack. Cast with LAKE & ELLIOT MIDAS S421. It measures 7.25" closed with a 4 3/8" screw lift giving an extended height of 11 5/8". The toolkit photo opposite is from the Standard Little 9 Instruction Book and appears to show this jack. - Courtesy of Brendan Boyle. Some suggestion received that this jack was supplied as an alternative to the Shelley Bantam 7 for the Austin 7 car. Information required please. Applicable Vehicles: Ebay vendor in May 2017 reported that this jack is for the Austin 7 with a high frame chassis - 1923 to 1934. Description The Midas JR S421 is a 7.5 cwt single screw jack. Cast with LAKE & ELLIOT MIDAS JR S421. It measures 7.25" closed with a 4 3/8" screw lift giving an extended height of 11 5/8". I believe the JR stands for Junior. One difference to the S421 above appears to be that the winder does not have a shoulder. The JR S575 shares the same design body casting. Applicable Vehicles: Tony Press from Melbourne, Australia reports that from notes he has collected on Austin 7 tools he believe that the 1920/1930 kit included either a Shelley (possibly the 7" Bantam) or the LAKE & ELLIOT Midas JR S421 jack. Description The P706R is a light double screw jack. It is 6" closed; 9" extended on winder and 13" with the inner screw extended. The base measures 3" x 3.75". The drive hole is one of 2 options. The first is a standard 5/8" square cross section (last but one photo). The second is circular hole with 2 cut-outs to accommodate pegs on the handle shaft or perhaps a starter handle (final photo).
